                                    MARCH 2012 NEWSLETTER

Welcome to the first Building Tomorrow’s Generation newsletter. You have received this because you
requested it when you heard me speak, you purchased a book, or in some way we have communicated in the
past. The newsletter has been a long time coming because I have been busy preparing some great new
resources for you. Each issue will include lots of fun and informative information, so let’s get started.

Releasing Our Arrows into the World

Spring is a time of new beginnings. New beginnings imply changes—some welcome, and some not so
welcome. Our focus this time is on the many times of letting go that will occur in our lives as parents—
releasing our little and not-so-little children into the world.

In Psalm 127 we are told that children are a heritage and a reward from the Lord. The psalmist tells us that
they are like arrows in the hands of a warrior and that the man who has a quiver full of children is blessed.

My husband is a bowhunter. Through the years  . . . (Click

Time to get into shape after a winter of hibernating?

People in Sweden found a fun way to motivate people
to take the stairs instead of the escalator.

You pianists will love this one.

Want to spend less time in the kitchen and more outside? See
Homemade Convenience Foods for great time- and money-
saving ideas. Here's a 12-minute recipe for starters. Pre-
cooking and freezing your chicken on a less-busy day buys
you time on a hectic day.

Chicken Enchiladas. Mix 2 cups cooked chicken and one or
two 15 oz. cans of chili beans. Place about 1/2 cup of the
mixture plus shredded cheddar cheese (to taste) on each flour
tortilla. Roll up and place in microwave-safe pan. Pour one can
(15 oz.) of green chili sauce over the top and heat about eight
minutes. Serve with shredded lettuce, chopped tomatoes, and
sliced olives (opt.). Add salsa if your family likes it spicier.

Family News

A friend of mine is fond of saying, "The days go slow but the years go fast."

I can hardly believe that our little boys are all grown up already. Son #1 and Dad "surfed" a volcano in
Nicaragua in December. Son #2 finished a massive home remodeling project for their family of five. Son #3
completes his family medicine residence in June; he and his family of four will serve the Quechua people in the
Peruvian Andes. Son #4 will be married in June. Son #5's twin boys will turn one this month.

I once figured up that during the first eight grades alone I was able to spend an additional two-and-one-half
years of waking hours with each of our sons because we kept them home for school. Although those years
had their challenges (see
Laundry Daze!), I am so thankful that we had those bonus years with them.

Treasure your moments, whether you are cuddling together with a great book or cleaning up spilled milk
(again). You are building tomorrow's generation. Your faithful service will impact many generations to come.
